Friendships + Blogging
Michele Falcone
Since I started blogging back in January, I have connected with an array of bloggers, and many of them I am blessed to call my friends. When I first started, I was absolutely clueless about what I was doing. I don’t remember how we met, but Callie from Coffee and Cardigans really came to my rescue. She answered questions, sent me in the right direction, and even helped me make buttons for my blog, even with her busy school and internship schedule. What a way to be introduced into the blogging community!
I also met lovely folks like Amber, who has been gracious enough to let me speak my mind on her awesome blog. How did I get so lucky to connect with such wonderful people? I heard horror stories about bloggers being competitive, but I have yet to run into that. I can’t see how blogging can be competitive – I mean, after all, we all have our own stories to tell, and our own unique talents, right?
Now, the friendships I’ve made aren’t just limited to bloggers, but I’ve also forged meaningful bonds with business owners and readers. When you’re speaking from the heart, people notice that, and when readers go out of their way to connect, its really such a nice thing. Yeah, that might sound cheesy, but think about it – something that you wrote hit a note with someone, and they were so inclined to comment. They could very well read the blog and move on, but they took some of their precious time out of their busy schedules to converse with you (I recently discovered that many of my friends and family members read my blog and don’t comment, which is totally cool with me). I think that rules.
As of August, I had yet to meet up with another blogger – everyone I had previously met is a ‘net friend (but a friend nonetheless). That changed when I met up with Sarina from Nerd Craft Librarian. We had an awesome craft night, which looks like something we will be embarking on regularly, which is awesome. Its so nice to have friends you can hang out with who are into blogging. She gave me a lot of blogging pointers, plus taught me a thing or two about crafting.

ReplyDeletehere's to hoping that i can invest more into my blog and participate in more features (i'm still shy about that part!)
