I’ve been talking to several friends who’ve graduated and gotten their own apartments. I’m excited as I listen to them (I’ve got 1.5years left). The prospect of being through with school terrifies me— I’ve never been anything other than a student before— but I want my own house. I want a cottage on the outskirts of Nashville, a cheap place that is my own, a place with a garden, a kitchen, a front porch, a home where I use my good china every single day.
I find myself frequenting home decor stores, imagining what my place would look like, what wallcolors I'd use, making pretend budgets for electricity, water, maintenance, etc.
Ideally, I’d apply to be a middle school teacher, although I’d wait a year or so after I graduated. During that year, I’d try to find work at a daycare or small jobs to work with children, build my resume, etc. I'd find odd jobs and I’d sing folk or jazz at local clubs in the city, go to art shows, and enjoy my time.

This sounds just beautiful. Your cottage ideas are pretty much in tune with mine, though I prefer something in New England. This post makes me want to sit down and write out all the things I want to do ...
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect xxx
ReplyDeleteyou're kind of not alone there, sister! i, too, day dream constantly about what my future home will look and feel like. this cheap rental with no back yard just ain't cuttin' it! ;] xo!

ReplyDeleteLeaving school is so scary but it's amazing how quickly you get accustomed to your new life. Plus, it is an amazing feeling to have your own place to live.
Teaching is the best job in the world! You should totally go for it!

Oh hooray, another lovely future dream post! <3 It's both fascinating and scary to think about the future, isn't it? Even if it's only 1.5 years away from you! But the fact that you have an idea of what you want to do is good enough to keep yourself busy. :) I, too, have a plan of what I want for my dream house.. a whole folder of things I want for my dream house, in fact. Haha! Having fine china every day sure sounds amazing, though--I think I'll have to have to add that to my list as well. ;) Still haven't come across any tea cups at old antique stores yet though. Gotta keep searchin'...!
ReplyDeleteThis is still my favorite dress on you, okay? :D <3
I know how you feel... I have one year left until I graduate and am so nervous about the unknown that follows. I mean, I will likely go to grad school after, but that will be just as big of a change. It's great that you at least have a general plan :) Gosh, I still don't even know which side of the country I want to live in! Who knows, I might even end up in Nashville myself

Beautiful dress. It fits you so perfectly. Don't fret too much about the future, just do your best to enjoy every moment. It really does fly by.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet! Your plans for after school sound lovely. I find myself daydreaming about my future home as well :] It is strange entering the real world. I graduated in December and am still trying to make the transition. I so desperately want to find a job so that I can make my daydreams come true. Rambling on here...anywho. That dress is so pretty on you. You look gorgeous.
ReplyDeletei absolutely adore that lacy dress! As for planning your future there is never enough time to plan! i graduated school a year ago and am already trying to plan my next adventure. There is always something coming next :)
ReplyDeleteyour plans sound lovely. I'd like to finally convince my husband that we need to move to Nashville and get a little secluded place in a small town.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can be neighbors :)
