tongue in cheek

DSC_0561

More often than not, I feel the need to put a label on myself and on this blog. I feel like if I post too much poetry, I'll bore those who do check up on here but that if I post only outfits, I'm cheating myself. I make things way more complicated than I need to. I'm always a bit afraid that people expect something in particular from my blog, but truth be told, I put this pressure on myself.

Having a blog is a sort of a time capsule, and while I love personal style and frilly dresses and whatnot, that isn't the only side to my personality. I love Old Hollywood, poetry, flavored coffee, makeup tutorials, all that jazz! One of the things I love about blogging is that you can give everyone a glimpse into what you love, share these thoughts and collaborate with others, and discover new hobbies and interests. With that in mind, it wouldn't make sense for me to be a one-trick pony, so to speak.

This is really just a long-worded way of me saying 'hello! I'm going to be posting more videos and poetry in between outfit posts.'

I hope you all have a great (almost) weekend. :)

  1. Haha!! I just realized the same thing with my blog. Truthfully - as much as I lover seeing everyone's style - I find blogs that are *only* outfit posts to be a bit dull after a while. I mean, outfits are great, but so are DIYs, music, makeup (gosh I love makeup!), videos, and all that jazz. ;)

I can't wait to see what else you have planned for your blog!

  2. I'm so glad you're going to post more poetry! I don't think blogs have to be one subject entirely (hence my mixture of frilly dresses with astronomy lol) in fact I like blogs more when they're a mix of everything the author loves :)

  4. I'm always scared to post poetry because I feel like no one reads it. Well, when you post your poetry, here is one blogger that will read and appreciate it. :)

  7. That outfit it is so pretty :) Too bad we're in the middle of autumn here, so unable to wear something like that. Sunglasses are really adorable too :)

  8. I like that you said a blog is like a time capsule. I've never really thought of it that way - so true! As long as your blog keeps on reflecting you, then you're doing the right thing.

P.S. Adoooorable dress! I actually thought it was vintage!

  11. Girlie girl, you post WHATEVA THE FUNK U WANT cause this is yo blog and nobody can tell you what to do. YEAH. And if they do tell you what to do, I will personally beat them up for you. Or try. Because my arms are noodles and beating people up is a thing unfamiliar to them. Maybe I could run over rude people with my bike for you?? Sounds like a plan to me.

Anywayeyeyeey, you look cute. That dress has such pretty, soft colors in it! I swear that you and florals were meant to be. Floral always looks so darn good on you!

  14. I'm so glad you shared this, because I struggle with this too sometimes! I think that a mix of posts about different things is great... and as long as you are passionate about everything that you write about, it's definitely going to show. I personally think that that is what keeps things interesting on blogs - when people are passionate about what they write about and do it because they want to.
