the walls screamed poetry.

I've been enjoying my own company, really savoring the summer. I leisurely read under the warmth of the Alabama sun, get all dolled up to frolic through fields, camera and journal in hand. I think that dwelling in the monotony, drowning in loneliness if you will, was my problem. Routine can definitely be a monotonous burden, but that doesn't mean my entire life is going to be that way.

Right now, my simple routine of the summer is just that-- simple. But once classes start and I'm running from French class to Poetry and to English, I'll be longing for the chance to rest and relax.

Here's a nod to lazy summer days, late-night makeovers to find the perfect look, a bombshell look, and a princess look, and to trying dressing up for yourself because, really, we are the very best company.

I dreamt this was a dream.

now imagine that..


How readily we categorize ourselves, aiming to fit a mold that we thrust upon others and therefore are subjected to. I scream and I whisper in the same breath, so what category is the loudness of my voice?

Amber... child, ninety, twenty-eight, twenty-three, nineteen, seven
poet, monster, dreamer, dancer, sinner, pretender, lover, singer,
other :)

Do you ever have dreams where you discover that your whole life was in fact a dream? Or just think about it? It makes my head spin, my chest constrict, my eyes flip, but in all honesty, do you ever allow yourself to feel the immensity of it? You think and you can walk across the room as you command your legs to carry you, and they call me 'Amber!' and therefore I look up. But a name is just a name, we are all people, and our mere existence is a dream to someone.

Onto dresses and platforms and lipstick and sun.

I've worn this dress twice in such similar ways that I decided to post the outfit photos all in one cluster- the only difference being the shoes. With the weather so hot and tempestuous, a simple cotton dress is all that is needed.

This dress was a gift from Tulle, a clothing company that I've had such great experiences with, but my love affair with the company is for another time. Suffice to say that it's me in dress form and has quickly become a summer staple, fall dream, and winter possibility~

I've been trying to come up with some weekly or bi-weekly features for Laughing With Broken Eyes. I love my blog and I love that I can share my poetry and outfits and ramblings and whatnot (pardon the extreme run-on sentence), but I feel as though it's very disorganized and random.

adored haunts~

My spirit is deteriorating, psychic energy afloat, and the body will soon decompose along with it.
My body is sluggish, clumsy, and slower than my mind.
I awkwardly pose for the camera, false smile locked into lips, gaze unsettled and transfixed on air, on emptiness, on vacant thoughts and crowded nothings.

Death haunts, and its ghosts follows me around, sends goosebumps down my back. Pending a late night chat with my dear friend Antastesia, I am again reminded that not all those around me are doomed to become ghosts.

With the loss of life on the mind, I've began thinking about what truly, really matters and just what it is that I want. Honestly, my deepest wish is to be acknowledged as a poet.. not even praised for my words, just understood, or to evoke some sort of emotion. Anyhow, onto the clothes, the exterior.

It wasn't until I'd already taken my outfit pictures did our mailman arrive and, with him, he carried a lovely purple hairpiece, made by the darling Juli of Sweet Little Chickadee. I immediate put the beaut on and traipsed about the yard like a lost flowerchild.

I've been quite lethargic as of late; the sun rises too early, the moon is my companion, and I write and read and write and read. A sound slumber is a dream, a dream I've all but forgotten. I'm mentally exhausted and thus physically exhausted.

Sometimes I feel like my words weigh more than anything else, and as they dance on my tongue and itch to reach my fingertips, I am a slave to them. My youth won't last forever, my life will flame out, and it's my job to write it all while I can, before my time ends. I feel like I'm on another plane.. nobody understands my words, and I am left watching another day end, another sunset, another moon.

Let's be honest. I was never one of those girls who spent their childhood and youth dreaming about their wedding and planning every detail. Truly, the idea of being in a relationship horrified me and being so hopeful that I might ever find a boy I'd want to date let alone marry seemed like a jinxed curse! However, things never happen how you expect them to and while I'm definitely not engaged/thinking about being engaged, my optimism in the future has been restored since being in a relationship.

It's not that I think he's the man of my dreams and I've already figured out every detail of my wedding specifically with him in mind, but I've started to realize how wonderful it is to have a best friend you have a crush on who has a crush on you too and that my wedding will be a wonderful day for getting to officiate being with whoever that person is for a lifetime. I think it's pretty cool. Amber and I started talking about our dream weddings on facebook and ever since, I've wanted to do a post about my ideas so badly! Filling in for her was the perfect opportunity!

Anyways, it only became clear me to this year when I started to daydream that there was really only one place I can ever get married. And, in the blink of an eye and spark of one memory, my location is solidified. In my dream wedding, I'll walk down the aisle on the sandy beaches of Redfish Lake in Stanley, Idaho or through a meadow filled with thousands of wildflowers overlooking the Sawtooth Mountains. My family has spent our family reunions at Redfish Lake since I can remember and my mom spent her childhood camping there as well.

For the past twelve years straight, we've swam in the Redfish Lake waters, hiked the Sawtooth mountains, camped around the fire in the Glacier View Campground, walked to the Redfish Lake Lodge, and fished along the thousands of trails. I picture myself getting married in the early summer with the family I've been going to Redfish with since I was five years old in the early morning, before the public has made their way to the beaches and before the water turns wild with boaters and skiiers.

Surrounding the "summer lake" location, I really really love the idea of almost a "Fairy/Woodland" theme. Now, bear with me. I'm not thinking glitter and little fairies. I'm thinking natural wood tables and seating, lots of wildflowers at the tables, and just an eclectic feel. Glass vases for wild sunflowers and daises in multiple colors, white lace tablecloths, dark wood tables. Something that looks like this!

I would love to be able to find an old barn or something for the reception. I envision a massive brunch with Belgian waffles, pancakes, bacon, omelets, French Toast, and every breakfast food known to man. I want it to be super casual and low key- no caterers for this girl! Since the ceremony would take place in the early morning, the reception would occur in the morning, also. After the reception, I want it to be like any other day we've spent as a family at Redfish: boating, water skiing, tubing, fishing, and playing! And everyone would have to enjoy the beach. For that reason, I don't envision the reception occurring far from the beach and an old barn seems a little far fetched. In fact, a beachside would probably be best if I could find a lawn or meadow for it to occur, far from the public!

When I picture the bridal party, I want to maintain the fun/whimsical theme. I picture gingham shirts for boys, with suspenders and boat shoes. Or cardigans. And bowties. For girls? Choose your own dresses girls! Pastel colors. Knee length.

And...for my dress... let me tell you, that's the one thing I can't picture! I know I want something classic. Something flattering. Something I'll look at fifty years later and still think it's as beautiful as the day I wore it. I love lace. I love classic cuts. I love simple! No crazy trains, no crazy frills, no mermaid styles, no poofs and no puffs!

I really love seeing DIY projects at weddings. Whether it be invitations, fun games, seating charts, signs, anything. It's just cute. And a money saver!

I want my wedding to be fun. I want pictures of me and my hubby to be jumping off a dock into the water. I want everyone to dance. I want Josh Ritter to play. I want lots of good, home cooked food. I want affordable. I want comfortable. I want it to be small so I can feel like I can celebrate with each and every person there. I want to have a photobooth with fun props. I want to wear Toms wedges.
